About the Campaign

Introduction

At Manav, we believe that every child deserves the warmth of a home, the joy of learning, and the security of a healthy life. Yet across India, countless underprivileged children continue to grow up in environments marked by poverty, malnutrition, and a lack of emotional or educational support.

Manav Home for Children was born out of this conviction — that a safe, loving, and enabling environment can completely transform the trajectory of a child’s life. This initiative is more than a shelter; it is a place of growth, care, and empowerment. Here, children not only find a home but also discover opportunities to rebuild their confidence, learn new skills, and become responsible, independent individuals ready to face the world.

Through this program, we aim to create a nurturing ecosystem where every child’s basic needs—food, health, education, and emotional well-being—are fulfilled, allowing them to thrive and dream again.

Background and Need

India is home to millions of children who live in conditions that deny them the most basic rights—food, safety, and education. Economic hardships, family instability, or displacement often push children into vulnerable situations where neglect, malnutrition, and exploitation are common realities.

While there are several shelters and institutions, many lack consistent resources, quality care, or long-term rehabilitation support. Children often grow up without emotional stability or holistic development opportunities.

Manav identified this urgent need through its work in community development and health outreach programs. Over the years, we encountered children who were left behind—those who needed not just temporary relief, but a lasting system of care and guidance.

Manav Home for Children addresses this gap. It is designed as a model home that provides comprehensive care — physical, mental, emotional, and educational — with a focus on dignity, discipline, and hope.

Objectives

The Manav Home for Children aims to:

  1. Provide a safe and loving home for children who are orphaned, semi-orphaned, or from extremely underprivileged backgrounds.
  2. Ensure nutritional security through regular, balanced meals that promote healthy growth.
  3. Promote good health by conducting regular health camps and maintaining strong hygiene and sanitation practices.
  4. Enable quality education by enrolling children in nearby schools and supporting their academic and extracurricular growth.
  5. Foster emotional well-being through counselling, mentoring, and recreational activities.
  6. Build life skills that prepare children for independent and responsible adulthood.
  7. Encourage social responsibility by instilling values of empathy, respect, and service.
Why Choose Us

Program Overview

Nutritious Meals Program

Food is the foundation of health and happiness. At Manav Home, every child receives three balanced meals and healthy snacks every day. Our nutritionists and volunteers work together to design meal plans that are rich in proteins, vitamins, and essential nutrients. Currently, through our larger Manav network, we provide nutritious meals to underprivileged children in 19 locations across India. This ensures that even children outside our home receive the care they deserve. We also promote healthy eating habits among children, helping them understand the importance of nutrition and hygiene. For many children, this is the first time they experience the security of knowing that their next meal is assured — and that assurance builds trust and stability.

Health and Wellness Initiatives

Health is a core pillar of the Manav Home model. We conduct regular health camps for school children and community members, providing free medical check-ups, vaccinations, and dental and vision care. These camps are led by qualified doctors and supported by volunteers and partner hospitals. In addition, our children undergo routine health assessments to track growth, immunity, and overall well-being. We also run health awareness sessions for children, covering topics like personal hygiene, menstrual health, nutrition, exercise, and preventive care. These sessions empower children to take responsibility for their own well-being and share this knowledge with their peers and families.

Quality Education and Learning

Education is at the heart of transformation. All children at Manav Home are enrolled in nearby government or private schools based on their aptitude and needs. We supplement formal education with after-school support — including tuition, reading clubs, and digital literacy sessions. Our volunteers conduct workshops in storytelling, arts, crafts, and STEM learning to make education more engaging and creative. For older children, we offer career guidance and vocational training, preparing them for real-world opportunities. We believe that learning should be joyful, practical, and inclusive. Therefore, special attention is given to children with learning difficulties, ensuring no one is left behind.

Emotional Support

Many children who come to us have faced emotional trauma — from loss, neglect, or instability. At Manav Home, emotional healing is a priority.

We provide regular counselling and mentoring sessions facilitated by trained professionals. These sessions help children express their feelings, build confidence, and regain a sense of belonging.

Children also participate in group activities, music, art therapy, yoga, and sports — channels that naturally encourage teamwork, self-expression, and joy.

Life Skills and Empowerment

Beyond academics, Manav Home focuses on building life skills — communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership.

Workshops are conducted in areas like personal finance, basic computer skills, self-care, and social responsibility. Older children are encouraged to mentor younger ones, fostering empathy and accountability.

Through these activities, children grow into individuals who are not only educated but also emotionally resilient and socially aware.

Community Engagement and Awareness

Manav Home is not isolated from the community — it is deeply integrated with it. We conduct regular community camps, awareness sessions, and health drives to engage nearby residents.

Parents and guardians (where applicable) are encouraged to participate in meetings and capacity-building workshops. Local volunteers often join our activities, creating a strong sense of shared ownership and trust.
